Anticipation (1~9~09)

I thought my first real blog(gette) was going to be about Giambi, I guess that will be number 2! Oh and yes I am at work so this will have to be short and sweet. I was just thinking about this steroid talk that still continues especially now that we (as if I have something to do with it) did obtain Giambi. My personal belief on the situation is anyone who is caught now that everything is out in the open should be punished, how harsh I don't know at this time. BUT for those like McGwire, Canseco, Palmero (even though I could never stand that guy) etc. it should be a wash. Why punish these men for doing something that you know very well the Owners all knew, the Commissioner(s) knew, everyone in baseball knew this was going on, even us fans had suspicions this what going on the entire time. So now we are supposed to be shocked and punish these guys? Baseball should have stopped it in the 80's, we fans should have caused a stink about it in the 80's. But man don't we love those homeruns? The Bash Brothers! As an A's fan I really can't think of greater days to be a fan. Sure we have the 70's but I'm only 27 so I wasn't lucky enough to experience that greatness.

And that leads me to this...IF Michael Vick is allowed to play again in the NFL all of those baseball players who are good enough to be in the Hall of Fame including PETE ROSE who should be there anyway should all get a free pass. Let's feel this out for a minute. You have a man well not really a man...but you have this person...I don't even feel right saying that because I'm a person you're a person but him? Ok this thing that takes a human form goes out and has dogs maul each other to the death and then you have these guys who injected themselves with some crazy steroids or rubbed something on their rear and honestly in the end it is something that only really hurt them. So what is worse? I think it's pretty obvious!
Now Canseco is blasted for coming out with this. He now wishes he didn't. He has lost a lot. These aren't horrible guys, they aren't criminals (some might be but we are talking purely steroids here). It does suck that they did it, especially for those that live a clean life and played ball at the professional level and remained clean their entire career. But that doesn't change the fact that in the end baseball failed them. Baseball the game I love more than just about anything other than family and friends, cared more about the financial payoff these guys provided.

Hopefully one day McGwire can come out of hiding, maybe when he does get into the Hall of Fame. But steroids aside...why is Pete Rose not there? And another thing why is Bud Selig still the commissioner? :::smooches on the butts of the owners:::
