Through The Eyes of Babes (2~8~09)

Ok, so I was just doing some cleaning and came across a letter I had written to the Oakland A's that I never sent. I thought it was mildely entertaining, kind of sweet, and I'm amazed it looks like a new letter. Keep in mind I was 14 years old.

On the outside of the folded letter it says (with smiley faces and hearts in cluded), "To: the Best Ball Team in the World!" Then on the top margin it says, "A's are the Best! You better read this I know that some people just skim over long letters, but ya better read all of this one!" Man I was serious when I wrote this, ok here it goes... (all spelling is how it was when I was 14)

Dear Oakland Athletics (A's),

Hi! I am 14 years old and my name is Lisa Hoffert. I was just writing to tell you about my brother Brandon. My brother always had a dream of playing professional ball with the A's. He has been a catcher since he was 9 now he is 22.

He was the best catcher on his highschool team. (Granada Matadors in Livermore) Anyways last year we had to move cause my dad wasn't getting enough patients (he's a chiropractor) so he wasn't getting enough money in. My brother was going to Hobbs for awhile in New Mexico, (where we moved to.) He tried out for baseball and didn't make it cause the stupid coach got people from Puerto Rico or someplace like that. The coach said if he came straight from highschool he would have made it. Cause before we moved he went to Diablo Valley College for about 2 years. Well I was wondering if you all could get him out there so he can catch a few balls with Stewart. He'll show you all how great he is. But what I would want is him maybe to catch an inning in a real game but sure that wouldn't happen. Inless you could do it.

This has been my brother's dream ever since he started playing. It's my dream and wish that he gets that chance. He knows everyone on all the teams. He knows everything there is to know about baseball. If you can please do this for him we will all be greatful. (and even better fans!) Oh! another think Mark McGwire has been doing really good. Congrats on his homerun tonight. Also to Eckersley for the save. But what has happened to him lately he used to be the best pitcher. Well thats what my family thought. Well guess I'll go its getting late. Bye.

Love Always and 4-ever your Best Fan,

Lisa

P.S. Please try to fulfull my brothers only true dream. Thanks.

A's are #1!

Please my brother deserves it. He didn't deserve what happened.

Everyone here loves Texas teams but I will always love California personally I think Texas stinks! [sucks was crossed out guess I thought it was to risky]

Oh also when my brother was little his favorite player was Shootie Babbatt (now it's Gregg Jefferies) [with a sad face]

Oh! Also my brother hurt his knee catching. Even when he's hurt he wants to play. He doesn't complain about pain he complains cause he can't play.

Just in case my # is 762-4950 its a business phone. Address [insert street address here]Clovis, NM 88101.

Well I may never have sent the letter but I am still an even bigger fan. Just thought I would share. Who knows maybe I will send the letter now.

Just a few more days until pitchers and catchers report!!! I can't wait for April!!!!
